Summer Writing Adventure Camp
Waldport, Oregon

To inspire writing, students will hike Cape Perpetua, walk the Alsea Bay Bridge, explore Newport’s Bayfront, and kayak the Alsea Bay. The camp is led by writer Drew Myron and adult mentor-volunteers. 

Students meet at the Waldport Community Learning Center, and enjoy writing experiences and adventures throughout the area. Students will write and explore a variety of poetry and prose forms. All writing levels and experience are welcome.

Writing comes alive with the details our senses provide. Exploring touch, taste and smell, we’ll focus on fresh writing with prompts and practices designed to energize and inspire.

From poetry to prose, fact to fiction, this half-day workshop will serve as a creative springboard in which you’ll generate new work, meet other writers, and share experiences that will help shape, shift and propel your own writing.

This workshop is open to writers of all levels, experience & interests.

A special week of reading & writing games and activities for all ages. As part of Seashore Family Literacy's Afterschool Program, students will explore creative writing through word games, crafts, poetry and prose. This free workshop takes place at the Waldport Community Learning Center in Waldport, Oregon.

No writing experience is necessary. Just a love (or even tepid interest with potential for love) of reading, writing, and the magic that happens when you put pen to page.

To culminate the week, students will be invited to read their work at Off the Page on Friday, April 6 at the Overleaf Lodge Event Center in Yachats, Oregon.
