Thankful Thursday: Young Poets

I spent the week at Seashore Family Literacy. On this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for young readers and writers who fill me and stretch me, and write sweet notes.

It's Thankful Thursday! Gratitude. Appreciation. Praise. Please join me in a weekly pause to appreciate the people, places & things that bring joy. What are you thankful for today?

I agree Trish! I just love to see the kids excited to write. And when they are eager to read and share their work, I am even more thrilled — and grateful to be a part of their experience.

Drew, your work changes young lives -- the most beautiful thing to witness is a student who finds just the right words to unlock hearts. I'm so very proud to know you!

I missed you on Thankful Thursday...both in the real morning and in the virtual here.
I didn't really miss it. I'm too old to wait for Thursday; I am thankful for many things almost everyday. But in honor of the day: I usually have supper at my daughter's with her husband (and son before he went away to school) and this week my younger son joined us after dinner. The two were practicing songs for the open mic on Friday; and he and I are working on some music/poetry combinations. Students are students at any age; those who help them are wonderful -- and Drew, you are right on the top of the heap!

I am thankful for my (3) kids' orchestra leader. A mother of 2 little girls, she comes out every Thursday to pull music and make merry with over 30 young(ish) people. It's a charity orchestra as well, so they have raised funds for classrooms in Afghanistan and orphanges in Africa. It's wonderful and a real blessing.

Wow, great to see such thankful response! Thank you.

Shirl, I like your idea that "students are students at any age." I certainly feel that way, and am grateful to have the opportunity to keep learning.

Eliza, I am thankful for your music teacher too. She sounds wonderfully giving.

Auburn, I'm proud to know you, too, and can't wait for your book to be published!
