Thankful Thursday: Where I Live
This is where I live: A small town called Yachats (pronounced yah-hots) on the central Oregon Coast. There are 650 full-time residents, no stoplights, a sprinkling of shops and cafes, and a post office that serves as the central source of news and gossip.
There is also lots of rain (about 72 inches per year) and some days I am not thankful.
On Monday, I was damp-to-the-bone when an early winter storm gave us whipping winds and two inches of rain in a single day.
On Tuesday, the sun dazzled bright and my every complaint was made small and faint.
On Wednesday, a thick fog wrapped everything in matte gray.
On this Thankful Thursday, I am grateful to live on the edge of earth, in the midst of change.

Looking at this image, I now know why my Oregon and Washington friends will live nowhere else. That coastline is spectacular.
I love Yachats too... So grateful we got to move here! And the damp makes my home feel cozier, and the storms give me energy, so I'm just a happy camper all the way around! Love that photo... =)
Me, too, Drew. Everything you said. And that aerial shot is the best I've ever seen of our little village. Puts it into grand perspective ~ and, oh, the blue sky!
Thanks! So glad you all (y'all?) like the photo. It was taken by Sky-View Photography, an aerial photographer who lives in Yachats.
And Heather - You have some evocative images/art/design of the Yachats area on your blog: http://oohlalaartsy.blogspot.com
You make beautiful work of this beautiful place.
Yachats. I've been there...about 25 years ago. If I remember correctly I spent time in a funky health food store and bought purple beeswax candles. :)
We tried to move there, (Oregon) but being foreigners (Canadians) it was easier said than done.
I dream about coming for an extended stay. There is nothing like the Oregon coast. How lucy you are, Drew. And livin' in a small town, to boot!
What a small world, Nancy!
Just think, we could have been neighbors. : )
