Thankful Thursday: Closing Year
It's Thankful Thursday — the last of the year. Thank you for spending the Thankful Thursdays with me, for keeping me accountable, appreciative and grateful for things big and small. Sharing thankfulness, I've discovered, slows my pace and makes me mindful, and my gratitude grows when shared with you. Thank you.
Bell Song of Thanks
for patience and prayers
for holding tight
and letting go
for mothers
who cry in the dark
and pray for light
for fathers
reticent as rocks
solid as time
for brothers
that call
for sisters
that don’t
for the near miss
the second place
the small dent
for speaking up
and stilling down
for lungs to run
legs to stand
a heart to believe
for sickness
and balm
fortitude and grit
for newborns
cradled in hopeful hands
for goodbyes
that shook
left us sobbing and stranded
for faith
and song
and the reminding chime
for giving up
and starting over
despite of,
because of,
almost always
for
love.

Absolutely beautiful--such incredible examples stated so simply. "If the only prayer you say in your life is "thank you," that would suffice." (Meister Eckhart)
Blessings and gratitude to you for these weekly gifts.
Jeanne,
Thank you so much.
With gratitude for the close of one season and the opening to another.

This is my new favorite D.M. Poem. The first one still holds a spot on my fridge and the ornery that accompanied it hangs on our tree. " the world is full of glass...unpack slowly...". Happy 2012 to u and David. One resolution for us is to travel and visit friends more. So y'all gotta come east or we gotta find our way west!
That was supposed to read "ornament" not ornery. Silly iPhone txt correct.
Oh Jen, thanks so much! I smile to know my words are in your kitchen -- the heart of a home.
P.S. Sometimes my words feel more "ornery" than ornament. : )
