You can't wear a poem.
Read. Write. Repeat . . .
May I offer a brief distraction?
Because life is more than words and you can't wear a poem, I like to amble through the fashion blogs.
I'm not interested in runway looks, emaciated models, or sticker shock. I'm a realist. I like stylish, affordable (read: thrifted) bargains.
Here are a few of my latest, favorite, fashion-focused blogs:
B. Jones Style
Hillary Quinn - The Bargain Hunter
I'm still searching for a fashion blog created by and for women over 40. No frump. No ladies who lunch. No overly natural looks. Does this niche even exist? Am I the only one on this hunt?
How about you? Where do you find fashion inspiration? Has fashion inspired your literary life? Or, conversely, has literature inspired your wardrobe ? (i.e. Are you wearing a bookish tweed blazer with elbow patches? Or a white house dress, ala Emily Dickinson?).
What's in your closet?

I find my fashion inspiration breezing through my office door twice a week in understated elegance, sophisticated, casual, yet strikingly simple. Every Thursday evening I find myself thinking, "Next week, I'll use my closet to its highest potential," and Monday morning I reach to the highest shelf and grab a comfy sweatshirt.
Thank you for adding a touch of class to the every day.
Drew, I find my fashion icon in the old movies. Audrey Hepburn. Grace Kelly. Even as far back as the other Hepburn (Kathryn) in her earlier movies. Ginger Rogers. Lauren Bacall. Ingrid Bergman.
Lately, I've been drawn to the sewing machine.
I want to wear poetry.
Melaia - Thank you for your very kind words. Really nice to 'hear.' And, I, too, reach for the sweater, very, very often. :)
Auburn - I agree with you. The Hepburns, Grace Kelly, Lauren Hutton --- all inspiring icons.
And while we can't *wear* a poem, we can surely write a poem about wearing a poem, right? I feel a writing prompt building. . .
I'm almost embarrassed to say what's in my closet. I am always reaching for warmth: long underwear, corduroys, turtlenecks, wool socks. Nowhere near as cute as all the darling outfits on What I Wore. Thanks for a fun (& tiny bit depressing :)) diversion.
